The 2021 edition of the Barrett-Jackson Arizona auction concluded last weekend. Despite the lingering effects of the pandemic, the event was a big success. Barrett-Jackson sold more than 1,000 vehicles, with receipts tallying about $95 million. While this is down from a typical Barrett-Jackson January auction, it reflects an encouraging return to business as usual for the trade.
Car buffs could attend the show in person in Scottsdale, Ariz.—or watch via cable television or the web. In-person attendance was allowed but limited. The organizers spaced out the cars to enable close inspection while respecting social-distance guidelines.

Fifty cars and trucks were invited to participate in the competition recognizing outstanding talent and craftsmanship among custom car and truck builders. Then, judges winnowed the field to the top five before about 25,000 enthusiasts voted online for their favorite.

Contestants won prizes for correctly answering auto trivia questions or guessing the sale price of featured vehicles. Awards included a $1,000 gift certificate for purchases on eBay Motors.
The first 2022 GM Hummer EV sold for $2.5 million, with the proceeds going to charity.
Barrett-Jackson also held auctions for charity. Nine vehicles raised nearly $6 million for good causes. Leading the way was the first 2022 Hummer EV that sold for $2.5 million.
