A sinister second-gen Charger in a deep hue just looks monstrous. It’s only fitting that “The Fast and the Furious” film franchise chose a 1970 Charger as the quintessential halo car because it truly is a star. The Charger is the only car that could upstage Vin Diesel. It is American Muscle looking its finest, spinning the rear tires, smoking them to oblivion, embodying cool, and doing it with panache.
We like almost any second generation Charger built from 1968-1970, but today’s pick in black is just the ticket. It’s the type of car that looks and sounds like a demon sent straight out of hell to obliterate tires and pavement, make men out of boys, and women out of girls. It’s a car that makes you want to be a badass, or feel like one if only for an instant just in its presence.
Today’s 1970 Dodge Charger is a resto-mod in the best sense of those words. When we were impressed by this beast’s Street Wedge V8 cranking out 630 horsepower and 575 lb.-ft. of torque. And also remarkable is the condition of the bodywork, the well-appointed interior and the modern 5-speed transmission addition. Plus the RideTech suspension system has been tuned and the muscle car of yore features updated components galore.
Finally the mile deep black paint with a red stripe finishes off this gem. In closing this is exactly the type of car we look for, search for and would love to own.
That monster has never seen a set of tailights.
This Mopar musclehead is one that would take people with brass to tame, but sometimes taming a wild beast is its own reward for the end results.
