From the late 1950s through the mid-1980s, General Motors sold slightly different versions of some US models for the Canadian market. While changes were primarily limited to styling tweaks and model name changes, the differences are enough to make models like the 1964 Acadian Beaumont, recently offered on eBay, stand out in a crowd. Its unique styling and extreme rarity make it an appealing choice for collectors looking for something different.

The Beaumont strongly resembles its domestic sibling, the Chevrolet Chevelle - opens in new window or tab.. But a split front grille and rear trim panel lend a unique appearance, a bit more like a Pontiac Tempest - opens in new window or tab. of the same vintage.
One (of 128) for the Road
This immaculate and restored Beaumont is a convertible in the top Sport Deluxe trim, making it the rough equivalent of a Chevelle Super Sport. While Chevelle SS convertibles are a common sight at car shows, this is a much rarer bird.
With GM documentation confirming that it is one of just 128 Beaumont SD convertibles produced in 1964, it is likely one of very few to still be on the road. And due to harsh Canadian winters, it is doubtful that another in this condition will come up for sale anytime soon.

A largely original and low-mileage example, this Beaumont has been treated to a thorough restoration, along with a few tasteful upgrades for safety and daily driving enjoyment.
Tasteful Restoration
Finished in Silver Blue Metallic with a matching blue interior and contrasting white convertible top, this Beaumont SD presents almost as new inside and out. The paint is immaculate with no apparent scratches or other damage, and all the original and hard-to-find trim pieces and badging are in place and in good condition. The chrome bumpers gleam like new.

Original SD equipment includes front bucket seats and a console with a floor shifter, much like a Chevelle SS. All instruments and controls are said to function as they should. An aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo - opens in new window or tab. has been discreetly fitted in the glovebox, with speakers tucked into the front kick panels.
An upgraded, period-correct 300-horsepower, 327 cubic-inch V-8 - opens in new window or tab., sourced from a 1965 Corvette, is under the hood in a tidy engine compartment. Fitted with dual exhausts and paired with the original and recently rebuilt Powerglide automatic transmission - opens in new window or tab., the potent powertrain is said to fire right up and run well.

Other mechanical upgrades include:
- Power front disc brakes - opens in new window or tab.
Affordable Rarity
Located in Ontario and with a Buy-It Now price of $32,930, this Acadian Beaumont SD represents an opportunity to own a rare yet affordable collectible. It also has the added appeal of ready parts availability through eBay because it shares many key components with a Chevelle.

That makes it a winning combination for collectors—daily driver reliability and unique looks.
