I bought this bass having heard good things about them online. I found it hard to believe that you could get complete usable instrument for less than the price of one good pickup. It sticks fairly closely to the standard design and function of a J-bass. About me - I've been playing guitar and bass for almost 50 years. I collect inexpensive to mid-priced instruments and work to make them into quality, playable examples. This is a typical budget instrument only even cheaper. The body is solid wood albeit light resulting in the bass being a bit neck-heavy. Electronics are typical cheap stuff but the neck is a nice shape and bridge/tuners do the job. Where were costs cut.? That's simple - finishing and set-up. Frets were fairly level but fret ends were unfinished with some sharp edges. Neck curvature, nut action, string action and intonation were way off but easily rectified by an experienced person with the right tools. The overall quality of the instrument is only fair but nonetheless amazing for only 70 bucks! Should a beginner buy this? No - not unless they know someone who can fully set up the instrument and dress the frets. Otherwise you are getting an instrument which is hard and unrewarding to play and likely to put off a beginner. Rather than spend money getting this instrument worked on professionally, the money would be better spent getting a Squier or Jay Turser (or several other "known" brands) from your local music store which would prove more playable and enjoyable straight out of the box. Neck was super fat and wasn't shaped evenly. Bowed very badly at the 4th and up frets and was slightly twisted. Maybe just mine is bad. I can't return it because I thought I could fix it and I damaged it further. Pickguard and knob plate look good but didn't meet up together just right. The sound was good and price was great for a brand new bass. Good option if you're diy builder and want to modify it or a beginner and want something cheap. For me, I'm going to relic it and put it up on a wall.

For 65 dollars it’s an awesome deal, but definitely not perfect...didn’t expect to be though. Two issues: The frets were very jagged, so I had to file those down. Second, there are 3-4 dead spots the A string that makes it difficult to use the entire fretboard freely. Pros: the bass is super light!!! Also it’s a great modding platform, which is why I bought it. I have EMG’s in mine and it sounds great. Good buy overall.

The parts are good but they were sloppily put together, which is to be expected for the price. Fret ends were really sharp and had to be filed, then I glued down the frets and leveled them. Neck needed a shim to reduce the string action. Then I noticed that the strings weren't lined up properly with the poles of the pickups. To fix that, I needed to add a side shim to the neck to alter the angle and re-position the bridge so that the strings were aligned with the poles of the bridge pickup. Then I had to re-position the pick guard and control plate so that the neck pickup was aligned properly. The bridge pickup in mine was dead, so I had to replace that and I also replaced the electronics just for good measure. It was a lot of work but I am very happy with the results. Oh yeah, this is a very heavy bass too, weighing in at over 10 lb. If you had to pay a luthier to do this work, I have to guess that it would cost over $300.Read full review

Came quick and was Very impressed with the look and feel of this Bass. I restrung it with the new high performance Black Beauties and plug-in my Fender Rumbler 25 and it rocked! I played some blues to warm up and got right into metal and found that deep thumping bass sound I was looking for. Can’t beat the price it’s great for any level player. Thumbs up!
