I am picky and low end pedal expert, so pay attention! Print this out. This is a good older pedal. Strong points are: great tuner, portable, rich BG drive mode set to Drive 1 EQ 18, thick Hall reverb set to H1@1, digital reverb set to E3 @ 22 echo reverb great in slap back mode E9-6, slow attack set it to 2, OD overdrive is sweet, Boogie drive set to 1 is mid range rich and responsive, Fender emulation is quite good (set it to 8), Overdrive mode is rich but set the EQ to 18 / 0, Weak points: like most multi-effects pedals, most of the FXs are a substandard and unusable and intolerable. stock distortion colour/color, lacks a pedal. This pedal is superior to newer Zoom models (and other brands) and it has a fast response time; making it a superb rhythm pedal Expert tip: get a momentary switch and mount it on something stable and connect it to the right channel of a 1.4" jack; then set your drive value to Pd. When you play your default drive is at 1 and when you press & hold the switch your drive goes to 30 (max), note use Distortion modes Fender, Overdrive, Boogie for best results.Read full review
The Zoom 505 II carries some pretty awesome effects. I would recommend getting the expression pedal that is compatible with this because then you can control the level or volume of effect outputted in your sound. As far as gigging, that is up to the user. Personally I would not gig with it because I love to use multiple effects and change them pretty constantly. However it is wonderful for studio work.
Great effects, easy to use, I learned how to program patches and all that in just a couple of days, the manual is helpful, it has diagrams, but it could have been maybe just a bit more clear. All in all, it's awsome.

The default presets included with the pedal are somewhat useful, if a bit over the top in places. The real magic lies in setting up your own sounds. It helps a great deal to review the owner's manual, which can be downloaded if your Zoom 505II doesn't come with one. Some of the effects available from this pedal really require the addition of a compatible expression pedal (such as the wah and ring modulator), so if you're looking at one of these, plan on adding one. When in bypass mode, it has a tuner function (very handy when you're changing strings on a guitar with a Floyd Rose). All things considered, there's a lot of bang for your buck in one of these little things!
This is a great little pedal. It has lots of effects and other possibilities like speaker sounds and amp sounds, noise gate, etc. For poor guitar players it´s the cheaper alternative. Rich professionals probably buy a Line6 or something but this little thing is not bad at all. I specially like the heavier sounds. There´s a nice range of good over driven amp sounds, very close to the good old Marshall stack. Very important: READ THE MANUAL!!! If you don't read the manual you'll never discover all the things you can do with it and it will always look like a difficult, hard to handle toy. If you read the manual, you'll find out it's very easy to program and it'll do more or less anything you'd imagine. There are other pedals on the market that are better, but they are MUCH more expensive. That's why I rate this pedal excellent, here on ebay you can find a used one in good condition around 30 or 40 bucks.Read full review
