It is what it is, and it is great for what it is! It's not a surround sound....that would be impossible for what it is. But it definitely improves all aspects of your sound, as good or better than any normal sound bar. Has a few more little features than it's competitors. Is very easy to set up (I'm as old school as you can get)! And mainly, it reduces the clutter (which is the main reason to get a soundbase vs a soundbar anyway). My only suggestion...depending on the age of your TV, make sure whatever soundbase you are looking at can support the weight of your TV and your TV stand can fit on top of the soundbase,

I have two of the 555s as well as one of the newer 570 models. I prefer the 555 because it has a slightly stronger amp. The sound is much fuller and clearer than tv speakers. It has output leveling which keeps sound levels from spiking during commercials. It also has a setting that boosts vocals which is great for people with hearing problems. Another benefit is being able to hear tv while I'm on the treadmill. I also like turning it up a little bit while watching a movie.It can be paired with your tv remote. Once you have a ZVOX you'll never want to go back to tv speakers.

I really like this , adjustable for late night and individual listening! I do have a hearing issue, worked in a production environment for over 30 years. (Wear your plugs) I switch to full surround for sports and movies when I want full effects. I would definitely buy this again!!
