My purchase was for an open box discontinued Yamaha TSR-7790BL. I had heard good things about Yamaha AVR's in general (dependability mainly) though their proprietary auto-EQ "YPAO" is not considered top shelf. Well, YPAO made my setup sound great...a secondary setup for me so I wasn't looking to spend that much on an AVR and didn't need every bell and whistle. My main requirement was that this AVR had pre outs which the TSR-7790 has. I am running my fronts through a Crown XLI pro-amp and there are no issues/no buzzing or noise. My center channel is powered by the Yamaha and my two subwoofers of course are actively powered. Pros: Clear loud amplification. Great YPAO auto-EQ with multi-point calibration. Nice on screen set-up. Multi-channel pre outs. Bluetooth/Wi-fi connectivity. Many additional functions I will not by using but others may enjoy such as multi-room MusicCast. Cons: There is no ATMOS or DTS-X support and the 2 LFE channels are really just one because they are not independently EQ'ed. I don't think YPAO does any LFE EQing anyway. But these are not cons when you factor in the sub-$300 price paid on an open box discontinued AVR that had an MSRP of $850.Read full review
