What I always loved about Xena: Warrior Princess was the blending of mythology, timelines and even religion in one astonishing adventure... Of course the final season doesn't fail to impress yet again with introductions of Lucifer, Caligula and -as a three-parter episode- Odin and his Valkyries.Xena's final adventure leads her to Japan to correct -as always- the "Sins of the Past" in the incredible two-parter series finale, "A Friend in Need".And of course as always Xena is a friend indeed....there isn't something that I dislike about the final season.Although I think that it could be good enough without the modern cloning story of "Send in the Clones".But...eh well...:D Other than my avid fandom of Xena since its beggining back in 1995 -5 years old at the time. Now 20.-I bought it because at the time of the DVD's release I couldn't buy them and of course now they have been discontinued by the manufacturer so eBay and its incredibly willing selllers are the only choice...so there you have it....I finally have the DVD's for loooong Xena-taining marathons...Kiaiiiiing!Read full review
This is my favorite season of Xena for various reasons. It includeded all my favorite episodes and all my favorite villains. Villains, to me, are the best characters and this season has the best roster of villains. My alltime favorite character is Mephistopheles and he's in this season. There's a slew of awesome villains that Xena goes up against in this season. Some that I truly love are Mephistopheles, Lucifer, Gurkhan, Bellerophon, Caligula, Yodoshi, Julius Caesar, and Ares. This season was by far the best one and I recommend it wholeheartedly. Out of the 22 episodes in this season, only 2 were filler comedic episodes that were lousy. The rest was far too awesome. Spanning the awesomeness of "Coming Home", where Ares battles it out with Xena and finds out how he was tricked by the furies. Going to "The Haunting of Amphipolis", my alltime episode with my alltime favorite character, Mephistopheles, where Xena challenges him in Hell and is forced to bring him out and kill him in order to save her mother's soul from eternal damnation and prevent him from unleashing hell on earth. And the follow-up of "Heart of Darkness" where Lucifer must force Xena to take Mephistopheles' throne as the next king of hell, but is unsuccessfully tricked to be the next devil himself because Xena forces him to commit the seven deadly sins. "Who's Gurkhan", my second favorite episode in the season, where Gabrielle performs an awesome dance sequence under an awesome tune in front of Gurkhan, hoping to stab and kill him while he is diverted. Awesomeness. "The God You Know" is also awesome where Caligula becomes a god and tries to take over the world but Xena tricks him into killing himself in order to be recognized. And the ever-unforgettable battle with Yodoshi where Xena herself dies in order to face Yodoshi as a ghost. Yodoshi getting slammed with the sword in the end and his head getting sliced off was utter brilliance as Xena unleashed a combo of moves against him in her final battle. I also found Xena's death to be very well-made. This concept was put to good use. She died the way a true warrior should die. She went up against an entire army of samurai-esque soldiers and was shot repeatedly with extremely elongated arrows before having her head sliced off. Also, the ending sequence is brilliance where Gabrielle must face her destiny and accept Xena's death without tampering with fate. She continues Xena's legacy with sheer brilliance. That entire sequence was great. Almost every part of this season was excellence. The only drawbacks in this season, although there were very few...were "Send in the Clones", where Xena and Gabrielle were cloned in the present time...that episode was lame. Another lame episode was "Soul Possession", where Xena tried to get rid of a contract on her soul made by Ares in the present time. Other than those two episodes, all others in this season were awesomeness defined. No other season, in my opinion, had 20 out of 22 awesome episodes. No other season had excellent villains compiled such as Mephistopheles, Lucifer, Gurkhan, etc. If for no other reason, this season's the best because of the appearance of Mephistopheles and Lucifer and the whole storyline where Xena battles against hell. This concept was far too awesome. This season is by far the best from the Xena series and I highly recommend it. No Xena collection is complete without this season. Mephistopheles rules most of all, by appearance, as a character, and as a concept.Read full review
Lucy Lawless is a very talented beautiful actress. She has a very strong personality and presence on the screen. Xena is a non-stop action TV show.Unbelievable action like sword fights, fist fights, martial arts, kick boxing. You wont get bored watching each episodes. She is more exciting to watch than Hercules. I think the ending is kind of "brutal" when she got hit by arrows but she is a fearless warrior, she fight to the end of her journey.....Amazing Show. I have a collection of Xena's Season one, two and six. Now I need to buy Season 3,4 and 5 to complete my collection. I highly recommend this TV show Xena the Warrior Princess. You wont be sorry. Get it now.....thanks & enjoy it.
I really wanted to switch to dvd...i had taped xena off tv when it had first aired now i am able to get rid of all those bulky vhs!...not to mention all the great extras the dvd's come with....especially the commentaries of Lucy, Renee....and sometimes Rob....this last season was sad....don't paricularly like last ep...because it WAS the last...but i must say it was beautifully done...like a cinematic feature in quality...i would prefer "When fates collide" to be the finale......but LOVE having the dvd's...money well spent
So Glad I bought this dvd set. It was fun going back and watching season 6.
