I like the book because it goes into things that you might actually need in a disaster situation such as, "How to hot-wire a car" and "how to break in a door." Not that those are the only ones, it also has things about animal attacks and how to take a punch. There is a section about how to land a plane and more. This book would be much better if it went into more detail, but the detail it has is probably just enough for the average or above average person. My opinion might be partly mis-construed due to my being a handyman and a home mechanic, but I liked it. (Truthfully, I probably could have written this book myself, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.)
What if you find yourself in some quicksand? You lock yourself out of your car,or get bitten by a snake you thought was harmless. Your car go into the water, can you get out safely? Here's a great way to start your day on a business trip, and the PILOT has a heart attack,no one know how to land a plane! I know you say the odds are this will never happen to you. This little dandy will help you fell ready when the last thing you expect does. A quick read and handy to keep in you bag, car, where ever you keep a small pocket book. GET THIS BOOK,BE READY.
I bought this book as a Christmas present but I couldn't resist reading it myself first (does that go against some rule of etiquette?). The book is very entertaining and informative. I hope they have the facts right but if they don't, who's going to dispute them. Dead men tell no tales. It's a funny book, kind of like a complete idiots guide for survival. I hope I (or anyone) will ever have to use this knowledge but it's comforting to know what to do if it does. I would recommend this book to everyone who doesn't panic (it seems to be the first step in any dangerous situation). Personally I'm gonna panic for at least a couple of seconds, you know just to get it out of the way. After that I'll try out what they recommend.
Every neurotic, like myself, will probably find some relief in owning this book. I often find myself wondering what I should be doing in outsanding circumstances and the horror that I will be unprepared led me to this book. Do I think I will ever need to fight off a shark or convince a Black Bear that I'm not lunch? Probably not. But on the off chance that I do I have the step by step instructions on how to deal with the situation and that leaves me plenty of free time on the brain so that I can worry about other useless stuff!
It's a real hoot ! Hope I never need to practice any of the survival tactics , especially with the bears, but if I do , i'm prepared.
