Didn't work at first. I called Windstream (the ISP) tech support and the tech said it has to be setup with your user ID & password. The tech walked me thru the process. Now it works. I was surprised the tech would help since the MODEM was not from them.

My old modem was obsolete and not working good any longer. Bought this as a replacement because I refused to pay windstream 10.00 a month for something I wouldn't own. And I was able to purchase this at 1/3 of the cost of buying it outright from windstream. Easy to set up and use. Only downside is google now thinks I'm in canton, Georgia. Which I am not. And this new to me modem is the only thing that's changed. I can deal with that though.

The Sagemcom 1704N works fine with service at 3 MBs download speed. However, Windstream now has 6 MBs bonded DSL and 25 MBs service - just not where I live. So "knowing it worked" (for me) the purchase of this router/modem for someone moving into the area was a mistake. Worse, Windstream documentation on-line includes at least two different lists of compatible modems. For sure, this is a perfect fit for DSL @ 3MB down/0.6 MB upload.

Product worked well with Windstream, thought it took a little work with their rep and some patience, eventually it came on. Beware that you will have to go to the IP address, put it in a web browser, log on to the device and then use your logon & pw. For the money you save, it's worth the little bit of extra time and brain power.

Product is just what I needed to connect my System. It is a short range signal system, but works great.
