Absolutely acceptable quality for the price. This is the second one I purchase. Usually, this type lasts around three years (based on my frequency of use and water amount). Replacing is very easy and takes 10-15 minutes max. Fortunately, it shows signs of deterioration long before it fails completely - when you try filling more than one container one by one it stops opening the valve after first or second one; you need to wait a minute before it starts working again. There may be more expensive models, but to my experience, I would prefer to have a new one installed every three years for the price of two Starbucks' visits rather than regret wasted money if a much more expensive model starts failing within the same period of time.

I thought I would try a used part to fix my ice maker solenoid problem since it was inexpensive (about $15) and was about 1/3 the cost of a new part. This part has 4 tubing connection points and after much effort including replacing the elbow of the supplied part with the one from my old part I finally got 2 of the 4 to not leak. Since I modified the suppliers part by using the elbow from my old part to try to fix the leaking problem, I did not pursue any corrective action from the part supplier. I simply bought a new part and it quickly fixed my ice maker problem. Considering this experience, I would recommend not buying a used solenoid valve part ever. But if feel you must give a used part a try in order to save money, I have no problem with the supplier of my part. The part description was accurate, the price was reasonable and the used part arrived timely.Read full review

This W104008179 valve/solenoid fit and worked perfectly for my Kenmore Coldspot Elite side-by-side refrigerator model 50594003 replacing part number 2205762 (valve/solenoid). I drilled out the rivet between main water connection (vs prying with a screw driver) and that worked well. One problem I had (not with the valve/solenoid) was that the O-rings at my water filter connection started to leak after inadvertently pulling on the hoses to replace the valve/solenoid. As such, I had to make a trip to Ace Hardware to get two new O-rings. The two O-rings were 1/2 x 5/16 x 3/32 (#83) and 7/16 x 1/4 x 3/32 (#780). That fixed the water filter hoses leak. I hope that helps.

This is a remove and install item, doesn't need any special configuration or set up, you'll need a screwdriver and a cuter for the hoses, I changed it myself in my fridge in less than an hour, absolutely compatible with the original one. Just cut the hoses as near to the old valve as possible and insert them in the new valve (be sure to push them hard enough to fit in the o ring and lock, all included inside the valve) , be sure to remove one by one and connect in the correct hole, the same with the electric connectors, that's it..!
