First of all this DVD is great. Eddie Guerrero is one of the greatest of all time, and in MY opinion second only to Ric Flair. Eddie Guerrero was, is and forever will be very important to me. All marking aside I will review this DVD set as honestly and completely as I can. FIRST of all, the bad parts. Eddie's stint in ECW gets around 5 minutes of coverage, while it was a short run in the company limiting the run to 5 minutes is a bad idea. Eddie's career before ECW was almost ignored other than growing up in the business and a few quick stories of Mexico and Japan. Eddie's run in WCW was around MAYBE 10 minutes. Eddie was in WCW for 5 years. So basically 5 years of in the ring and 5 years of behind the scenes get dwindled down to 5+ minutes of screen time, touching on only 2 or 3 things. VERY disappointing. We now go into his first run in the WWF with the Radicalz angle, but without talking much about it, we go right into Eddie's angle with Chyna. Then again with very little on the subject, we jump to Eddie being let go and catching up with Rey on the Indie Circuit. This DVD is moving WAY too fast!! Now Eddie's back in the WWE and with Chavo Jr. doing the Los Guerreros angle. Feuding with Kurt and a handful of stories. Each of the topics I mentioned are peppered with stories of Eddie's drug abuse, marital troubles and his actually inspiring rise to the top of the WWE. But again, this DVD is just way too short. It is literally 45 minutes long and you think to yourself "okay my DVD player must have skipped something." That being said this DVD is a must have for any fan of the business and any fan of Eddie Guerrero, despite it's length. The bonus features are... --Disc 1-- Matches: 1. Hector, Chavo and Mando Guerrero vs. Cactus Jack & The Rock and Roll RPM's 2. Hair vs. Mask- Eddie Guerrero and Love Machine vs. Octagon and El Hijo Santo 3. 2 out of 3 falls- Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko 4. Eddie Guerrero vs. Chris Jericho 5. WCW Crusierweight Championship- Eddie vs. Rey Mysterio, Jr. Vignettes of Eddie and Chavo as "Los Guerreros" Music Videos: Finger Eleven-"One thing" Seether-"Gasoline" Soil-"Redefine" --Disc 2-- Matches: Hair vs. Hair- Eddie vs. Chavo Jr. Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship- Eddie vs Rob Van Dam Triple Threat Match- Los Guerreros vs. Angle & Benoit vs. Edge & Rey Mysterio U.S. Title Tournament Finals- Eddie vs. Chris Benoit WWE Championship Match- Eddie vs. Brock Lesnar Extras: Eddie's mother has a heart attack! WWE Confidential: YJ Stinger Behind the Scenes YJ Stinger TV Spot (English) YJ Stinger TV Spot (Spanish) Behind the Scenes- Low Rider Magazine Cover Shoot Deleted Scnenes including Mando telling a story about "Eddie vs. THE MONKEY" All in all this DVD gets a 10/10 from me, but that is ONLY because it's Eddie. If the WWE had put more effort into this, it would have been so much better. But the documentary was put together for UPN and was to the best of my knowledge not to be released on DVD. So last minute, WWE lazily put it on DVD with a handful of bonus features and a few good matches. This however is complemented greatly by Eddie's autobiography of the same name and the DVD set "Viva La Raza: The Legacy of Eddie Guerrero." I hope this review was informative and helpful in your descision to buy this title. If you liked it please rate the review!! Thanks!!!Read full review
The subject, Eddie Guerrero and his story are wonderfully told. The real problem with this DVD is the production. They have the sound level too high and it compresses the voice work to a hard to hear level. The wrestling matches, on the other hand are crisp and well preserved. We have lost some wonderful entertainers and great people in wrestling like Eddie, Owen Hart, Randy Savage, Curt Henig, Chris Benoit, Miss Elizabeth, and many many more. This unit could have been a lovely tribute to EG but it is sad the way the first DVD suffers from unequal production levels.
for anyone who admired Eddy as a wrestler or a person. It's his own story in his own words. There's a lot of raw emotion. I expect WWE stopped pushing this DVD because so much of it involves Chris Benoit (including a promo for HIS DVD) More interesting than the story fo people who loved Eddy's style of wresting are the "extras"- incredible matches with Mysterio, Malenko, Benoit and others. While "Viva La Raza" was good this is so much less commercial and so much better.
I Like Eddie Guerrero alot, he's my hero and I had to have this DVD. I already have the Leagacy of Eddie Guerrero. So i thought to myself that I had to complete my small collection and buy the Eddie Guerrero Story. On a side note if any one has more eddie guerrero merchandise i would be happy to buy buy buy!!!
Amazing story of perseverance. There's no one else like Eddie Guerrero.
