Although it looks like the "full" NAS it's a different. This is the "Home" version of the MyCloud product line. Just an FYI. I knew the difference but bought this spur of the moment for a small project/something to do. Probably easier to set up but the features are tied to specific programs and those programs bury the free side in an attempt to get us to sign up for subscription services.

This is nowhere close to the original My Cloud NAS in features. Had I known, I probably would not have bought it. However, its very decent for a typical novice user wanting to backup typical data. A user always has to login through WD credentials to access the drive(Never had to do that with previous My Cloud). You also can't back up the the cloud device to another storage device. Only decent thing about the product is that the software automatically creates folder on your computer for access from anywhere.

It took me a while to take it out the box to set up and low and behold I unplug it with router and modem and guess what doesn’t turn no lights and no sound or even a peep from the my cloud!! Return process is a scam as well trying to trick people into getting it wrong so they don’t have to pay for their wrongs !...

A nice, little drive (2TB) with Mac Time Machine compatibility for a nice price. My only gripe is the necessity to keep connected to the Western Digital web services. Why is there no local web administrator interface?

It's just htere quietly in the background working away at keeping my files in sync.
