I'd been eyeing the Vostok "Scuba Dude" for some time, and made the plunge because... Well... It was inexpensive and –– based upon various posts in watch nerd forums –– seemed like a well made timepiece. This is an extremely well made timepiece. The biggest surprise of all –– to me, at least –– is that this is an amazingly accurate mechanical watch. Honestly, the "Dude" is more accurate than any of the other mechanicals in my collection, and that's saying a lot. Maybe I ended up with an outlier of some sort, but my Vostok keeps time to within about two or three seconds every twenty-four hours. The blue of the dial, along with "Mister Dude," swimming on the front is quite stylish, and my watch nerd friends have complimented me on my "great looking piece of man-jewelry." Do yourself a favor, though, before buying a Scuba Dude (or any other Vostok): purchase a well-made leather or Nato band to go along with the watch. The stock bands sent with Vostoks are terrible –– absolutely terrible –– and, if I were a gambling man, would bet that they'd originally been made as torture devices, designed to rip the arm hairs off of Russian prisoners. Seriously. Just order a band. 18 mm. Some people have commented/complained about the "loose feel" of the crown when setting the time. I don't find this to be an issue in any way. Just accept the fact that it's something different from the way in which Swiss and Japanese crowns operate, and then set the time. Nothing to complain about. In summary: this is a great (and slightly quirky) timepiece. Get one for your collection. And buy a band. Blue, red, and black Natos look great with the Dude.Read full review

Movement is very erratic. Sometimes loses several seconds in an hour and sometimes stops for no reason, even on wrist right after a full wind. I’d heard these have spotty quality problems but if this is typical then I cannot recommend. It looks great though.

Overall it's a great watch for the price. - I like the quality, the price, the size, the look, the weight, the ability to wind (though I don't use it), and the screw down crown is easy to screw and unscrew, and change the time with - The lume is underwhelming but it's there and you'll notice it - The band is not great, it pulls the hair on my arm and doesn't feel as nice as the rest of the watch. The band also appears to be missing a cutout on one of the links (pictured top left, compare it to top right) making it impossible to remove without bending it flat. I ordered a nato strap to resolve this.

So far, this watch is living up to the hype. As per the comments I have seen online, the strengths of this watch include its styling, its robustness and its versatility with strap and bezel options. The teal coloured dial stands out nicely, although not as bright as I had anticipated. The bezel is a little simple without any numbering but does have a charm to it. The movement is working well so far. No need to wind the watch as long as you wear it at least every couple of days or so. Mine is keeping really good time. Haven't measured it strictly, but doesn't seem to be losing or gaining any time at all (after a week it was still the same time to the minute as my iPad time). Finishing is pretty good. The bracelet is a bit tinny. And fully polished. Which is not a great look. And the tinniness is annoying, as I can hear the bracelet every time I move my arm. I have had it on a leather strap, a shark mesh, rubber strap and nato. All of which work well. Another weak point is the finishing on the crown. The grooves on the crown seem a bit shallow to me and looks a bit cheap. And my crown doesn't seem to fully screw down against the case. I can see a tiny gap between the case and the crown. Not sure if this affects the waterproof rating or not. Haven't tested it. In all likelihood, it's not a big problem and it hasn't bothered me that much. All in all, a great product for the price.Read full review

I’ve been watching the you tube vids on Vostoks and was intrigued. So far I agree. The metal band is super light and not very refined I.e. the edges dig into your wrist. Changing the band is cheap and easy. The watch itself is great with all the quirks of a Vostok Don’t let the face throw you off this is a tough well made watch for the money
