This monopod is light enough to be easy to carry (I'm a 62 year old with back and heart problems, so I mean - it's REALLY light). It is, despite how light it feels, very sturdy and the extensions release for extension and lock in place easily and securely. It has greatly reduced the number of photos I have to delete due to hand-shake blurriness (old lady, remember?). It has also helped me to climb an embankment more confidently because I had the monopod extended and used it as a walking stick! I was just climbing to the top of a hill, not a mountain, though!

Vivitar camera supports have been an excellent tool for me in the past and still prove to be excellent value for money today. Well designed and made, they never give you any difficulties in use, nor failure to do their job in the field. The leg clamps are excellent in design and use. The foam grip is comfortable and well sized. The maximum height is more than needed. The only minor criticism I could make is that the minimum length is a bit too long for my shoulder bag. If each section was slightly shortened [5-10mm], then the overall height would still be sufficient and the minimum length more compact.
It takes a bit to get used to a mono-pod, but it is so light and convenient, you will want to practice. This is a very good one shipped fast at a good price.

Vivitar makes some things well, some things very well. This is very well made as a value monopod that will support a long lens. Light in the hand, strong locks, nimble quick release, channel locks are easy for older hands and firm when engaged. Turn the rubber foot, and a spike is revealed. It's a monopod, not a tripod, so use it accordingly. Not as compact as others, but an excellent trade-off for rigidity. If you shoot sports every day or bird every weekend in wilderness, consider a carbon fiber model for 5 - 10 times the price. If you don't plan to beat the heck out of your monopod with constant use and rough conditions, this should serve you well, and the money is well spent for the price.

This is a great Mono-pod. The quality is pretty good and very stern. It's very tall and pretty light. I bought this for my external flash though, I might use this when I travel or definitely when I'm at a sporty environment. I would recommend this brand and product to a photographer. Why buy an expensive one that has the exact same features? ***THIS WAS JUST FOR MY EXPERIMENT*** I just wish I could unscrew the bottom point thing off (The part that goes into the ground). If I could take that part off I could buy a mini tripod and screw it on the bottom, thus making a very tall tripod for my external flash for cheap.
