This is the 'old style' with easier handle placement for carrying the filled water container. 'New style' has larger cap so I guess people like being able to reach inside to clean if needed, but removing the handle was dumb. Warm steam vaporizers seem to increase humidity without seeming as cold as ultrasonic types- and adjuvents can be added to stream (like Vicks, fragrant oils, etc.) I have a couple of these and they only use 250 watts - of course that's a lot more than ultrasonic models- but the additional heat is not wasted.

The PROS are all listed above. The only CON I have is that it does not put out enough Steam when the Medication is added to the cup. The much older models would produce more steam, and cover much more of the room, so when the door was opened, one would know the machine was working. I cannot find those machines anywhere. Doubt that the older ones are sold anymore due to electrical code updates.

Water tends to accumulate in the bottom tray no matter how tight the closure. The machine is quiet, can run for overnight without fear of running out, also has auto shut-off feature.

I purchased this when I read an review that stated it's a product being made years ago and it's a top of-the-line humidifier. It works Great. I'm going to use it more in the Fall/Winter months. It removes the dry air and my cat needs it more for his asthma. Will Recommend. 10**********
