Sadly No SPDIF output
I needed a way to play stereo audio over optical SPDIF. This is the only feature I tested. This device has the connections for it so it would have been perfect if it worked. Sadly I had no results getting it to work on macOS Catalina or Windows 10. The Windows 10 drivers supplied on the CD install a set of headphone drivers and an application to control the output. It’s an old piece of software but installs fine and has lots of options for equalisation and effects. This driver would not allow me to select SPDIF output (was greyed out) so I couldn’t get any sound out of my speakers. The seller suggested trying it out on Windows XP, which I will try to do when I get time, but this is a silly suggestion that’s not very realistic for the average person to have access to such an old insecure version of Windows on a computer.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Effective solution
Cheap option which worked for me to record minidisc to the computer, I initially used optical input as I preferred a digital connection but this only worked on one occasion and failed to receive a signal when used again so I had to change to "line" in which is analogue and I had to use a twin phono to 3.5 jack adapter to connect this way. Exceptional value
I have had problems with noise from onboard sound card. I have often bought well known sound cards creative and asus for example which are high quality. This little device however for the money has delivered clean sound at a fraction of the cost and worked first time. win 10 64 bit driver difficult to find, but the product is probably easier to use with win 8 , Linux, or win10 32 bit
The product quality reflects the price. Ive had a problem setting it up for Windows 10 64Bit , and after a struggle I found the drivers on the internet. However, I may still need to attempt the driver install again as VLC and Windows control panel dont seem to be able to detect my surround speakers.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works as described but note Win 10 issues
Easy to install following the brief instructions supplied with it and works as described. Note that there are issues associated with Windows 10 and 5.1 audio rear speakers, which are well documented on the internet and do not appear to be related to the hardware - mine work correctly through the device and Sound Control Panel but not in normal use.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
