What is the green wire for? How accurate is the reading?
I purchased 2 of these volt gauges just because they are priced very good. I noticed that the gauges do not come with a mounting bracket. I just happened to have one bracket in my box of miscellaneous car parts. The instructions are somewhat vague, the instructions show how to hook up the red and the black wire, but have no instructions about the green wire. What is the green wire used for? I am not sure how accurate the gauge is, I did compare my Digital Multi Meter reading to the Volt Gauge reading and they do not agree with each other. My DMM reads about .7 volts lower or the gauge reads about .7 volts higher than each other. Which one is correct? I purchased 2 of these volt gauges just because they are priced very good. Garbage
The one I got was actually a 150psi gauge. Didn’t work at all, it just stayed reading 150. Then I thought maybe I’ll upgrade my wires from 18 gauge to 12 gauge to try to make it work. Well, I didn’t get the chance to see if that was the problem because where the wire connects to the sensor snapped off. Waste of money, useless garbage. Maybe you will get lucky and get one that isn’t faulty, but I highly doubt it, the quality is too low. Even if it does work I don’t see it being accurate or lasting very long either. If you like jumpy gauges with no median number, this is the gauge for you.
Figured since it was cheap I would give it a shot. Nope. Digital gauge but the numbers are all over the place. Not just flipping like 2 or 3 digits. I’m talking jumping from 20 to 40 to 30 then 50 then 20 and so in and so forth.. not accurate at all. I also waited a very long time over 20 mins thinking the oil system just had air in it maybe. Still no luck. No instructions on how to calibrate the gauge to refresh slower. It looks good. I’ll give it that much.Figured since it was cheap I would give it a shot. Nope. Don't waste your time and money!
Junk. The back light altho it can change colors, cannot dim at all. There is a ridiculous "strobe" mode that can give anyone a seizure,not even sure why they put that color mode in... It is accurate for about 30-45 min, then its all 0's The RPM scale is very odd, at 2K RPM it reads 2.00 RPM x1000 and the range is way above what an average car can even do, it seems like they built these for 10K rpm redline cars....... Total crap, dont waste your time with this gauge...Junk. The back light altho it can change colors, cannot dim at all. Lliked the red numbers, they match interior gauges good enough. However my unit doesn't always come on right sometimes there is no reading or just part of unit is stuck on. Maybe it is how it is wired although I have a volt meter similarly wired with no problem.
