    not for tattoo coil winding

    i bought this with the intention of wrapping my own tattoo machine coils for my tattoo machine production business (Klein Irons). upon it coming to my possesion i realized that the threads were much to large to fit a coil core and had to fabricate a 8-23 thread to the machine in order for me to make it work for the purpose i intended it. it is fantastic now that i had made the minor change but i wish i would have figured it out before hand

    Geared to fast.

    This is a nice design, but its geared too fast and requires a ton of effort to wind anything thicker than 18 gauge. Trying to wind 15 gauge was a real bear of a task. It needs a better gearing option really bad. Even adding a longer handle on it didn't help much because it seemed to over stress the set screws and gears on it.

    Useful little gadget

    I love this thing. It's very useful for the casual coil wonder. It probably won't hold heavy use very well. Still, I recommend it.

    Hand Coil Winder, good value for the money

    A well executed low-cost design that works well. This is the second one of this design I've purchased, although from two different vendors. The first was for a former employer and is still in use in a low-volume production environment. This one has a much better casting for the base (not warped like the first one was) and cost half what the first one cost. If you need to wind a modest number of coils this is a great tool.
