The unit works as expected, only the video input line one in the back does not. I am able to record via the front input, wich still serve my purpose.

nice sleek design.plays movies great.i bought this to use as a qam tuner for my older tv.i use the component cables for the video since tv signals are downconverted to 480 anyway and i only have 1 hdmi input on my tv.i use the digital coax cable to feed the sound to my 6.1 reciever.if you've done your homework, you know if you want the free qam channels you have few choices.rent a box or pay for digital cable, get a tivo with tuner or a dvdr with tuner,or a new tv with qam.qam is the band of channels that the cable company wants you to pay for.if you have analog cable, the digital channels are free already there.you can expect to get about 70% of them.mtv, cartoon network, usa etc will be scrambled. here are a few quirks i have found so you know what to expect. qam tuner looks great.analog tuner not so.it looks worse than any vcr i can remember.lots of graininess, dot crawl, and softness.if you watch analog local channels,i would run a splitter and feed the tv direct for that portion of the signal. it takes some channels 2-3 seconds to lock on to the signal.not the fastest surf machine. when powering up,even if no dvd is in,it still spins the motor and tries to load with a clunk.they should have a sensor to detect no disk. unlike most tv's it does not mix the channels together in order.you have to manualy switch between tunersRead full review
I was amazed when this unit read my discs that had not been finalized by old failed unit this replaces. (Was not a Toshiba unit) It tells you how many minutes are left blank on your disc whenever you pause the recording to remove commercials. The remote is not top notch intuitive for me yet, but I attribute that to leaning on my part. Pauses and re-records are almost instantaneous which is a new experience for me. I do get blue screen error message on disc done on old unit but I suspect it should finalize what I have added and play fine. Has multiple programs on same disc. Even though extremely pricey by todays standards I would buy an identical one to this. Makes me think I should look for another for when I wear this one out.. LOL.. One con I should mention it does not allow me to title the shows I record on the disc. I use magic marker on disc itself.Read full review

Upgraded my Toshiba recorder. Old one still works but I liked the extra features on the upgrade. It’s used but looks good and works well!
