I have used Toshiba for years. They are the best. They have a very good recording ability. They will last for years. I had a 420 before this one and had a remote, It lasted for 10 years. Before this one I had another Toshiba. They will record anything. If not for blueray they would still be number one. They will record eight hours on one dvd and the quality is still good.

I have used Toshiba DVD Recorders for the past 12 years with minimal hassle until of course they wore out from normal use. Recently I had to purchase my 3rd replacement recorder and I bought one that was slightly different than the model I used before. I researched it on line and it seemed to have similar characteristics to my previous recorder but it was less money. When I attempted to hook it up to my cable box with the standard a/v jacks that I've always used, I either got no signal or one that had a split screen black and white picture and no audio. I know I was NOT hooking it up incorrectly as after having issues with this new machine, I hooked my original recorder back up the same way as well as a totally different model I borrowed and they worked fine. I'm guessing this model was not compatible for some reason and I had to return it. I ended up losing half the money on that purchase but I won't get into that here. I ended up finding a seller who had the same model I owned previously and I decided to purchase it even though I had to pay more money. I had it up and running in 5 minutes after opening the box. Stay away from this DR410. It's garbage. Go for the DR430 instead.Read full review

The product is OK and it could be easy to use but unfortunately I cannot be able to do so and I might not be able to operate it without a remote control because I’m totally blind. I’m considering sending it back and trying to get an actual DVD recorder/VCR on here, but my mother advised me not to do it. Unfortunately, there is no other way for me to get a DVD recorder/VCR from anywhere else so I’m pretty much stuck.

Read the manual. gave the dvd burner a shot and burned a dvd on my first try. there was no volume, but I read book and set the volume and burned my 2nd dvd with volume. I guess all the bad reviews I read on this unit people did not take the time to read the manual. It does burn dvds from my DV camera. It does say certain copyguarded movies and shows it wont copy. I hope it continues to may my dvds and a couple years would be nice. If you dont know how to hook up a cable box, or a regular dvd player to your TV, get someone to show u how to record dvd if u buy this unit. I bought this unit because of price ($56.00) free shipping, and it works good. dont forget to finalize the dvd if u want to play it on another player or ur computer.
Got this DVD Recordable player and it’s “Great” ... And very easy to hook up. The Toshiba play also came with a Manual and the Remote as well. I’m so glad I got this.
