Another mistake on my part. SACD should sound superior to Red Book CD, but only if the original recording is good. As with the SuperTramp SACD I recently purchased, the Who sounds muffled without dynamics and with two dimensional soundstage. Why the Japanese would bother to put this on SACD is beyond me. LP sounds the best, although not even that can overcome the poor recording.

The packaging and physical quality was fine however, sadly as mentioned in another review (which I read after ordering) explained that the sound quality of the master (source) of this disk is horrible. Very compressed, minimum channel separation and just generally very poor quality. I have a US based version that is significantly better and I was hoping to get a SACD that improved on that. Sadly, not the case at all.

Obviously the music itself is amazing, but this release is disappointing. To me, the sound stage sounds narrow, and compressed. I much prefer the lower resolution 96k FLACs available from some of the high definition music shops.

This SACD of Who’s Next outperforms all media versions I have heard. It has clarity and a lack of grain rendering better dynamics and tonal balance. Get this while you can!

hi all. I love sacd but there not all great. do not bother with who's next or quad. thay simply don't sounds as good as the remastered cds. I picked them up last time in Tokyo at tower records. I compared who's next sacd with the remastered cd, sounds bad. any way thats just my opinion. keep rocking all. stephen
