The Urantia Book (2100 pgs.) (Warning: the reviewer is not a Christian, New Ager or cultist) A review channeled by a thought adjuster: “The largest and most complex channeled book was received by automatic writing in the early 1930s. The method for the creation of this book can be determined by a careful study of author’s writing techniques and style. There is clear evidence that there were two main writers of the book; one who created or channeled the overall concept and structure and another who gathered, organized and edited the bewildering array of materials and sources. The writing style is unified indicating a single personality or group mind. The viewpoint and terminology reveals obviously human limitations in the choice of classifications, subject matter and clarity. The story of Jesus is fascinating but falls short of providing specific information that would prove direct observation or contact.” After receiving the previous message I began research into the history of the book and the Urantia movement in general. I was very impressed by the massive scope of the Urantia Book but found many examples of plagerizing and faulty logic. I suggest reading the book The Urantia Papers. There is strong evidence that original Urantia Book was much smaller, hundreds of pages were added on by "thought adjusters", a group of people that had their own Christian agenda. This book is a perfect example of the kind of subtle deception that is possible with channeled materials. It's like comparing what Jesus Christ said to what the Bible says Jesus said. The Urantia Book is the most profound book I've ever read. The authors claim it to be a revelation. But don't let another boy who cried wolf, or revelation, be a stumbling block. I found this book as a doubting, soon to be an agnostic, while serving in the USMC, in 1980. My faith in organized religion, as I knew it then, had been destroyed when my Pastor said, after I handed him a dinosaur fossil, that fossils were put here by the Devil to confuse us. As a young man, who craved to understand science, philosophy & religion, his answer didn't convince me. When I found the Urantia Book, it had answers to such compelling questions as, "Why are we here?"; "Where do we go when we die?"; "Who was this guy named Jesus?"; "Is there really a great divide between science & religion as so many people want us to believe?" & many more thought provoking topics. The Urantia Book is not easy to read. Many who attempt to read it from the beginning fail to get to the end. The first 200 pages are some of the most mentally complex & paradigm challenging text I've ever tackled. But the later papers that purports to share the story of the life and teachings of the man we know as Jesus is so heartwarming & convincing, I challenge anyone to read the last 1/3 of the book devoted to his life & message & then claim they remain unconvinced of the book's authenticity or fail to become a true follower of The Son of Man and Son of God: Jesus. The book introduces us to his sublime, august personality & makes him a character you want to know & want to devote your life to learn more of, perhaps even shall I say, Follow. The book reveals many missing pieces of the puzzle. The Bible gives us the message of people who were greatly influenced by Jesus, or just his message or his ability to knock one off a horse and blind one briefly. These messages are significant & have unquestionably changed the face of the earth as we know. But they lack when it comes to clearly stating the Message OF Jesus not the Message ABOUT Jesus. There is a difference. The message ABOUT Jesus is that he, as he said he would, rise from the dead in 3 days. The message OF Jesus is that we ARE ALL Children of God & there is a Fragment of God within each one of us. That fragment indwells everyone: not merely those who become followers of today's Christianity. WE ARE ALL Children of the same GOD. GOD respects none more than another. What’s important is that we recognize we are Faith Children of God & then equally all brothers and sisters of the same Creator & then live a life accordingly. Just having a Fragment of God within us is not enough. It's a gift with much potential but it’s our willful consecration of choice to do the will of our Heavenly Creator that brings us to the potential of immortality. God provides this fragment to become one with, in eternity. How Jesus lived is equally, if not more, important than how he died. He showed us the best example of what a human being can become, if one wholeheartedly dedicates one's life to doing the Will of God. This conscious choice to willingly dedicate our thoughts, actions, & interactions with others, brings us to a state of Grace that grows more real with each decision; with what is the highest absolute potential: personality survival. We cannot BE another Jesus. We will not be asked that at our moment of reckoning, but we will be asked if we were good stewards with the gifts we were given. “How did you treat my Children?”Read full review
I like reading the fourth section about the Life of Jesus. Whether these stories about Jesus' life are true or not, it nevertheless get you thinking about the life of Jesus, and especially the "missing" years not mentioned in the Bible.

I have been a voracious reader and seeker of greater truth pertaining to spiritual understanding. I have read and reread the Urantia Book several times; as it is the most profound, accurate, and revealing source I have ever come across in my sixty years of life. I bought seven of these to give out to special people in my life who are in search of enlightenment and truth. This book picks up where the Holy Bible leaves off ... and explains all of creation -- Creator God, the heirarchy of Angels, and other of God's created beings in the "heavenly realms"; as well as their duties, stations of service, roles in God's plan, etc. This book also explains "Adam and Eve", "Satan", the Luciferian rebellion, the role of mankind's development and consciousness, and the many "mansions" we have to look forward to in our continuing development once we leave our earthly bodies behind at "death". Life is neverending, and we are on learning journey -- full of various experiences -- which allow us to grow and mature in the manner we need in order to make progress in spiritual realms. Rather than being "humans seeking a spiritual experience", we are "spirits having a human experience". The Urantia book is extremely well written, very detailed, and full of the history of not only our individual experiences, but the detailed historical narrative of all of God's creation. It explains God's role; the Angel's roles, ranks, and duties; plus the roles, ranks, and duties of many other lifeforms created by the Creator, and living throughout creation. There are so many more forms of life than we have ever imagined, and the Urantia book is an excellent source to find a much greater wisdom and understanding regarding the totality of creation, and our unique experience as humans. I simply cannot recommend this book strongly enough. One of the three sections of the Urantia Book is dedicated to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ ... and is, by far, the best commentary I've ever been priviledged to read on the subject of Christ and His life -- both before, during, and after His bestowal on Earth. The true teachings of Christ (and ergo "Christianity") are better clarified, and without the denominational distortions in Truth that we find in organized religions today. I found it a "must read" value. If you are seriously seeking to understand the very essence and nature of creation, spirituality, and your own meaning and purpose, I would strongly suggest reading this book -- then buy copies and give them to all your friends, loved ones and seekers of the truth.
