After reading The Da Vini Code, I started reading other books about Jesus and The Holy Grail. This book, The Templar Revelation by Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince is quite a page turner. If you are into conspiriacies you'll love this book, some of the theories are so off the hook it made my head spin and my stomach turn! Like for example the idea that Jesus and John the Baptist may have been rivals, The Knights Templar may have worshipped some pagan god named Baphomet, and that the Knights Templar and Masons worship John the Baptist and Mary Magdalene over Jesus! Just to list a few of the off the hook theories. Oh wait I forgot the one about Mary Magdalene possibly being a priestess in an Isis Cult and Jesus being initiated into the High Magick mysteries by her! Its a fun read for people who don't take their Christian roots all too seriously. But I can see how its totally offensive to those who do. In the end they come to no real conclusions just a lot of crazy theories.Read full review
This book is not for the weak hearted. Its 369 pages of story and small print will take you a while to read and the contents will make you reconsider all you have ever heard and learned about three of the more well known religious figures of history: John the Baptist, Jesus and Mary Magdalene. What you read on these three may sound far fetched, but the 32 pages of endnotes and references give the book a sense of validity not seen in other books like this. The research that is woven into the book show it took more than just a few months for the two authors to write and while you may not accept all that they put on the pages, they come up with a very interesting view of our world's Christian church history and how it was written by the victors (in this case the later church fathers and those with a purpose to obtain). I have recommended the book to a few friends, it retails for $15.00. I picked it up new for about $10. The book contains a mere 6 pages of black and white pictures, but a wealth of information that you will be thinking or talking about for a while. If we look back before the success of the da vinci code, we will be left with two books, The Templar Revelation and Holy Blood/Holy Grail. This book the Templar Revelation started the whole bandwagon/ball rolling when it coems to the hidden meanings and codes within Da Vinci's artwork and the subsequent theories concerning Jesus+Mary Magdalene being married and then having children, namely a daughter named Sarah/Sara. As you read thru this page turner with a better appreciation toward unconventional ideas concerning Christian Dogma and religious persicution you will come to appreciate Picknett+Prince's research and travels to unconver/unravel the truth about what we still call "myths" concerning Jesus-John the Baptist-Simon Magus and our now cultural and politically correct princess Mary Magdalene. This book is an essential read if you are into anything concerning the Da Vinci Code,l or for that matter, the REAL authors of the Da Vinci Code, 5 stars *****Read full review
