Well I am biased towards the Rolling Stones, so I will 1st say that this early Stones performance is quite special in that it shows Brian Jones as well as Bill Wyman helping out on Vocals, which I've never seen, and I have tons of bootleg videos and whatnot. Also, it's been documented that Brian hated the camera. Well you wouldn't have guessed it watching this, he smiles, and even "mugs" or gestures at the camera when he notices they're shooting footage of him. Charlie Watts (drummer) is noticeable absent from most of the footage. That is odd. The rest of the acts are great. The Beach Boys with a very young Brian Wilson on lead vocal for surfer girl, his voice almost cracking on some of the higher notes is indicative of just how young they were. It would be years before he was recognized as the genius arranger/producer/engineer he turned out to be, as well as a major inspiration on Sgt. Peppers 3 years later in the summer of love. Of course there are all the classic Rock & Rollers, Chuck Berry, and James Brown. One of all the acts besides the Stones, one of my favorites is The Supremes. Diana Ross looking ever so comfortable in her own space. I would have given it excellent, but I have a "thing" about Black & White. I guess it was being the last family on the block to get a color TV. Otherwise, very thoroughRead full review
This DVD should be required viewing for anybody interested in the history of rock-and-roll! It is superb entertainment, and the artists in the movie are all at their peak. The innocence of this movie lies in the fact that it just predates the escalation of the war in Viet Nam, and the widespread social unrest that later would come to define the 1960's. At first viewing, just sit back and enjoy the movie for what it is, and be entertained by some of the greatest performances in rock history. The second time, watch it with the Director's narration and appreciate the performances in a whole new light. The bonus features and booklet only add to a very immersing time-travel back to the mid-1960's. This movie is about as close to a time-machine as you can get, and it is a wonderful journey indeed! Kept hearing about this tami show and would always see footage on various rock documentaries that seemed to be from the same stage and it turned out this was the show. There are performances by Motown greats and one hit wonders along with classic bands. Recently CNN did and documentary where they showed a lot of this footage where one guest commented that this was the first time us white kids got to see James Brown. The Rolling stones also said that going on after James Brown's performance on this show was one of the biggest mistakes of their career. Don't miss this one.

I never write reviews, I am 63 years old, a vietnam vet, a boomer who grew up during a time when many great talents were developing in the Music World. I had seen this movie many years ago when it came out in the theater, but over the years, I had forgotten that it ever took place. This is a must see for any music lover - for any baby boomers out there who want to feel and hear something good again. This DVD captures so many artists when they were just begining their careers. Diana Ross - The Rolling Stones - Marvin Gaye - The Beach Boys - James Brown - and on, and on, and on. The quality is fantastic and the memories are priceless. When you are watching these people - you find yourself saying," This person is going to be somebody". And of course we now know that they did in fact all succeed. Do yourself a favor and buy this DVD. It is fun and full of energy and memories of another time.....JimRead full review
