The translation by Joseph C. McLelland is excellent. He has achieved a moderately "aureate" translation that conveys the sense of the original text more sentence by sentence than word by word. Sixteenth Century Journal This volume contains a helpful introduction by the translator which sets Vermigli's work in its historical context, introducing readers to Vermigli's opponents and also to his eucharistic theology as such. The work also includes a Scripture index, an index of names, including classical and patristic references, and a general subject index. All in all, this handsome book bears all the marks of a well-executed project. Mid-America Journal of Theology A further volume of the admirable Peter Martyr Library continues the task of making this unjustly neglected central figure of the Reformation accessible to modern readers.
