I was actually shopping for a hair curler when I stumbled on this set and I realized I did not own these wonderful movies. The buy was a total no-brainer! The DVDS were in mint condition and arrived on time. If anytime you want a good Lord of the Rings set, this collection is very nice. It features both extended and theatrical versions of the movie with some bonus features thrown in. Theatrical version is in the new 4k, so the film is sharper. But if you're looking for extended with all the bonus features, don't buy this set. All in all, this is the best thing I've bought all year!

I would have to say that Return of The King is my favorite of the trilogy, closely followed by the first one. The acting, special effects, and sheer scope of this movie is incredible. I'm still amazed by it years later. I reccomend these movies even for those who aren't normally into sci fi/fantasy because there's lots of great action, and lots of real emotions, which a great deal of sci fi/fantasy special effects extravaganzas lack. The backdrop of New Zealand is simply stunning, especially in the scene called the Lighting of The Beacons. There's multiple DVD versions of the trilogy available. But I would most reccomend this one for those who would like to own both the theatrical release and the extended version, but don't want a ton of extras, and to take up a lot of room on the shelf with multiple copies of the movies. I'm a big fan of the movies, and I own the 4 disc extended version box set for fellowship of the Ring, as well as the theatrical releases of The Fellowship of The Ring and The Two Towers. The Limited Edition 2 disc sets of the trilogy were handy to me, because then I could just buy one set and have both versions. It doesn't have all the cool extras that the extended 4 disc box sets have. But if all you want is the movies, then I reccomend the limited edition 2 disc sets. Be aware though that they are difficult to find now, and can be expensive. It's rare to find any of the three limited edition 2 disc sets available for less than 25.00 brand new. If you find them brand new for less than that, grab them, because it's a big bargain!Read full review
These two-disc Lord of the Rings limited edition dvds have less special features with the first disc double sided theatrical and extended movie. Then the second disc is special features. The book looking extended edition has more special features (two discs) but it does not include the theatrical version of the films. Depends on how much viewing of special features you want and how much of a fan of LOTR you are. Extended has two discs of special features, Limited dual edition has one special feature but adds the theatrical version of the movie. Make an informed decision.
Great value. VERY GOOD MOVIE!
