This Field Guide is one amazing book! If you're a weaver, spinner, knitter or crocheter, the easy to absorb information about the appearance and use of the fleece of 100 common sheep breeds will be extremely helpful: which breeds provide the best wool for delicate garments, which are best for crafting sturdy items such as weather-resistant coats and which wools are the easiest/hardest to dye. If you're like me and just plain like sheep but can't tell a Finnsheep from a Romanov, you'll also love this book! Each sheep breed is given two pages, one with its photo, detailed description of the fleece, effects of dyes and best uses for the wool while the facing page provides a closeup photo of a lock of the fleece, details as to the weight, fiber diameter, colors, etc., as well as a little snippet of information about what makes the breed unique. What a boon this is to help identify what breed of sheep you've encountered! Every breed I've wanted to identify is in this compact book, small and light enough to carry in a backpack or daypack. Highly recommended.Read full review

I am a weaver/spinner and do demonstrations for the public on regular basis. I was familiar with the book and pleased to find a used version. I plan to use the book as a tool for people who are not knowledgeable about sheep.
