Tektronix made some really GREAT waveform monitors for NTSC, and since the transition to digital TV obsolete at TV stations and going for very good prices for anyone still working with the old standard... but before you leap at a bargain price, bear one thing in mind. These monitors were mostly used in TV stations, 24/7, and they use a cathode ray tube. CRTs wear out; the trace gets dim with time. In most stations, it's SOP for equipment to run continuously, even when they're off the air... most of the equipment has never been turned off for literally YEARS, and the CRTs get dimmer and dimmer. DON'T bid on a waveform monitor that isn't shown powered up in the photos, and with a trace of some sort on the screen. The odds are good that you'll get an unusable dud. I got burned (but not too badly) on a Tek 1730; the electronics are in great shape, but the tube is very nearly gone. Replacement CRTs CAN be had; there's at least one seller on Ebay, but replacing one is a hassle, as well as DANGEROUS. Besides coping with high voltage (2000 - 5000 volts), even after the monitor has been unplugged, a CRT contains a very high vacuum; if scratched or struck during replacement, it can go off in your face like a hand grenade, filling you with glass fragments which are POISONED with the phosphorous coating of the screen. CRT replacement isn't a job for the untrained.
