I researched this cot before purchase. There was a general ageement as to the difficulty in fastening the secondary bar. I too had that problem but it was solved using a hammer handle to pry the bar into place. The reason that the bar is difficult to fasten manually is because the entire unit is precisely made and the mat comes very tight from the factory. Once I did get the bars in place I slept well and with my weight on it, the mat stretched somewhat. What I will do is sleep on it with my head in the opposite direction so that the mat will stretch uniformly and will possibly take the pressure off having to place the bar using a hammer handle in the future. Positives: Almost twin sized. Comes with a carry bag. Solidly made. Good for heavier people. Negatives: Shorter newbies to cot use may tip cot when they try to get off of it. May be difficult to assemble when new without pry tools.. The steel plates on aluminum end-bars may prove to be a little too thin.Read full review

Excellent Cot, especially for a big and tall guy. Sturdy and comfortable.I'd say that the only fault is it is very hard to snap the last corner of this cot in. (Some come with this little tool attached to the cot to make it easier to slide the last corner in, this one didn't have that tool. I'd recommend you get the one with the lever/tool.) I also bought the pad and that made it even more comfortable. Teton makes the top of the line sporting and camping products. I don't think there are other cots that compare to this one! NOTE: I just came back from a 10 night camping trip, definitely an extremely comfortable and reliable cot. I rate it 4 Stars Out of 5. (Mostly because the forth corner is very hard to clip in) Get the one with the built in tool to snap the last corner into place.

I’ve tried several XL cots and while tough to setup initially because the canvas was so tight, it is the easiest to unfold and set up and feels the sturdiest without needing extra bars to be fastened down. Definitely want a pad but man this is awesome

Im 6 foot 5 and so camp cots usually dig into my ankles or shoulders. This cot is long and wide enough. impressed with the build quality, feels very robust and while its early days have slept soundly. My Kodiak swag tent sits on top nicely , look forward to many more nights out
