I am not a HAM or pro. I just like radios. This little radio is pretty impressive. I was able to tune in several offshore broadcasts and of course all of the domestic AM an FM stations. It’s small and compact and lightweight. Ray to take anywhere. The speaker is also small so the audio is a little on the high side. Also the gain is set pretty high to amplify those real weak signals. It’s good on SW however can be a tad much on domestic so the volume has to be kept lower to prevent clipping. All in all it is fun to listen to and a great value.

AM & FM selectivity is easy and pretty good. I'll credit the radio for that. And it does have a large tuning scale to choose from. There was little on SW so it's hard to tell just how sensitive this radio is for those bands. The reai problem is with music on FM . It sounds TERRIBLE, even on low volume. If you want it quantified, I'd say that the audio response is some where between 1000 and 1500 Hz. For the price, tho, it is more work trying to return it than to just toss it. Bob Helt

First - remember that this is a $20 radio. Because it is an analog tuner the AA batteries last a long time, I use the batteries that have 'died' in my digital camera ans there is still enough power in them to run this radio for a couple or more weeks. The telescoping atenna is long & reception is good but don't expect miracles if you happem to be in a valley or a metal clad structure such as a mobile home or warehouse. The sound is reasonable and the flip out stand on the back is a nice feature

First off,I'm evaluating this radio as a shortwave receiver. I tuned in a few FM stations just to confirm that it works, and it did. As a shortwave set it performs quite well having no problem at all picking up the same stations as my larger portable. Tuning is reasonably accurate on all bands. When you release the tuning knob it doesn't drop back a few Khz as so many cheap radios do. Sensitivity is about what you would expect. It certainly picks up Radio Havana nicely and I can frequently hear WWVH, CHU and a number of other stations usable as a standard. If you live in an area with really strong FM stations it will create a problem on short wave. As you tune across the SW dials you can hear the FM stations at various intervals. They sound load and distorted, probably because you are in SW mode which is AM and trying to demodulate an FM signal. This is a major pain, especially if you scan the SW dials very frequently. This isn't unique to this little radio though. I have two other analog tuned SW radios and both have the same problem. I think it's due to the fact that all of them are single conversion radios. My dual conversion SW radio does not do this. If you think this may be a problem then I'd suggest looking for a dual conversion portable. They cost a little more but they are worth it for the extra performance. In summary, this is a great little radio for travel within non-English speaking countries or if you just want a little SW radio to play with. -KG0RPRead full review
