The hardware part (i.e. sound quality) is very good, both in and out channels. Headphone amp has decent power. The software part is far from being ideal, it needs some time to understand and tweak. I met some problems with "Loopback" function (they were not mentioned in manual) and it could be more intuitive. May be, it`s partly because this is my first external USB card (I used to use PCI card previously and it was much easier to set up). In general - I`m quite satisfied, especially considering sale price I bought it for.

I needed something to go between my mixer (Mackie) and my Macbook Pro so I can do some recording using Apples Garage Band. I like to record different cover tunes. I am a guitar player. This Tascaam is very easy to use and has several options for use in recording.

Easy to set up, rugged, and simple to dial in. USB works with practically any software. The only thing I wish it had would be S/PDIF i/O but I knew that when I made the purchase. It may sound a tiny bit dark but that’s probably the fact that it isn’t hyped to fool the user. YouTube videos reflect that I’ve noticed. I’ve been recording for 35 years....Remember manufactures have to release new versions of interfaces..they’ll say new A/D converters, new specs etc...but they have to stay competitive or sales drop. Just be careful of constant sales pitches, plugins you’ll be promised or urged to buy. Invest in good solid MICS and MONITORS. Everything in between will change over time.
