Overall it is as described and for the price, a good value. However, the motor nameplate shows 1.5 hp, 115v and 9 amps, which probably does not equate to 1 hp shaft power. The nameplate of the motor I replaced shows 1 hp, 115v and 11 amps, which is probably more than 1 hp shaft power. There is decent flow from the unit but I was replacing the old unit for more flow, specifically for better vacuuming, and the flow on this unit is not as strong. I have not vacuumed yet, so I can't say if it does the job or not. It is possible that the nameplate convention has changed since I bought the old unit but 115v and 9 amps only gives input power of 1.4 hp, rounded up. Apply a reasonable efficiency and power factor and you get less than 1 hp. NOTE: One month operating follow up. The unit is doing the job well and vacuuming works fine. So, I say the unit is performing as hoped and the horsepower issue, although true, is a non issue. I generally run it 5 to 6 hours per day on a 12,000 gal pool and the water is clear. In an unrelated issue be sure to mind your CYA levels because chlorine effectiveness goes down at higher levels.Read full review
