Ok, so everyone knows Surefire builds some nice lights, right? Well, this one is no exception. This is the older incandescent style though. So, if you're expecting it too be super bright you'll be disappointed. Incandescent bulbs are also more susceptible to getting damaged by impact, recoil, etc. It's decent as it comes, but nothing spectacular. It is however, a very high quality piece of equipment in terms of build quality, feel, and durability. It also has the push to activate momentary, and twist to activate constant on, tailcap. I prefer this to the clicky style tailcap because it won't allow me to accidentally activate constant on when I don't want it. I bought this light because I found it for less than $40 shipped. I also had plans to upgrade it with a Malkoff drop in, which cost a little over $40. So, for a little over $90 I ended up with the quality of a Surefire light, with the durability and 320 lumens of the Malkoff, which has excellent throw and spill for my application (weapon light). In my mind, this combo gave me a better cost/benefit ratio than the newer Surefire LED lights, or most other proven lights currently on the market. I like this setup enough that I plan to buy a couple more, along with the Malkoff drop ins, just to have as general purpose flashlights.Read full review

A durable flashlight. The only trouble was that the three extra bulbs weren't for this light.

I carried a multitude of hand torches over the past 30+ years in law enforcement. They are without a doubt one of the best lights I ever carried. I’ve used Streamlight, Maglite, Surefire and many other want to be’s. This light was great when it hit the market and with certain LED upgrades over time and now rechargeable batteries it’s kept up with the best of them.

This is the light that paved the way for all of the current generation lights. It literally revolutionized the world of hand held flashlights. Having said that, they are now obsolete in factory form. However, when fitted with Malkoff heads they are absolutely superb and can be configured for multiple applications. I despise click type tail caps, and (Thank GOD!) these lights do not have them. Super simple to operate under stress - push the button, they are on. Release the button, they are off. Twist the tailcap to the left to lock it in off position, twist it to the right and the light stays on. Everything that a flashlight should be!

I've got both high end LED and Incandescent lights and still prefer a good incandescent. This SureFire 6P and the original Streamlight Stinger are my favorite, smaller lights. I live in the country and an LED light, because of it's blue cast, I guess, reflects off fog or mist and doesn't seem to "reach" out there as well as a good incandescent. LEDs have their place for sure but it's still a shame that people have forgotten how useful a quality Incandescent can be.
