A little known early SNES gem, only sold for Japan. Despite nearly all text (including menus) in game being full English. This is effectively two games in one. The main mode is pretty much standard Tetris. Type A and Type B are similar to the highly successful NES and GB games, so most players should be familiar with those. Type C is a bit different. Every once in a while, garbage lines appear. Bombliss is the more unusual mode. Its basic formula was only seen in the US once, thanks to Tetris Blast. No bosses in this however. Instead there's standard and puzzle to choose from. Both involve clearing the field using a limited number of blocks that contain bombs. Very neat. The visuals and sound are simple yet catchy. Large detailed backgrounds. Colors don't over saturate as Tetris & Dr. Mario does. And I think pressing select while paused changes the music. There's also two player. I don't recall it having the deluge of options some newer Tetris variants offer, but it's worth a look due to this game's sharp control. I'd also suggest checking out its sequel Super Tetris 3. That expands on the multiplayer, and replaces bombliss with other modes.Read full review
