This has enough power to trench it's furrow but I bought it for a clean edge after the first round with a 2 cycle .90 weedeater so that it doesn't have to work very hard.I advise the 4AH batteries. Best news is that's quiet, easy to guide and leaves a clean edge. As we all know that narrow clean edge doesn't last long but this thing is so light and quiet it's no problem to go out early in the morning after the dog walk and clean up if it's not time to mow yet. Wish I'd bought one years ago. FYI it is powerful enough to kick back on you if you start on concrete, a root, embedded stone.

The battery lasts about 5 minutes in this product. Bought both a new edger and a new battery at the same time. I let the battery charge the required amount of time and went out to start my edging and 5 minutes later the battery had to be recharged. About 1/2 an hour later it was recharged and ready to go. I went out again and again it died after 5 minutes. This went on 5 or 6 times. A job that normally takes less than an hour took well over 3 hours! I immediately went back on Ebay and bought a corded electric edger. Fabulous ! While I bought this because I can use only one hand functionally, I cannot recommend this product. I have had 18v and 16 v battery operated drills and screwdrivers and had no problems with them. Against my better judgement I thought I would try this for convenience. It was a waste of money. Stick with an electric edger. My grade is an F for failure.Read full review

It is easy enough to use but it drains a fully charged battery very quickly. 12 to 15 feet is about all you get from a battery charge, yet the same battery lasts a long time with other tools like the trimmer and blower. This tool needs more power than a battery can deliver. Therefore, it makes it very inconvenient to stop every 15 feet to recharge the battery for an hour. Impossible to complete the entire yard in one day.

This edger is a workhorse. I bought this to clean up all the yard edges that the previous homeowners had let overgrow (both dirt and grass) onto the driveway and sidewalk by 3"+. The edger worked through them no problem. Some areas were worse than others and required multiple passes but the edger had more than ample power to cut through it all. This job was done over multiple days as the overgrowth was so bad it eventually drained my batteries. Now that they're all trimmed I can quickly edge everything to keep them straight and maintained, there's no resistance at all. I do recommend buying/using a larger battery. I have close to 1,000 linear feet of edging and use a 6AH battery. Without any overgrowth the 6AH will cover all of that in one charge.
