Only two small issues
Thus is a great little device. There are only two very small issues. First off there is no supply voltage polarity protection. Be absolutely sure you have positive to positive and negative to negative or the device will suffer a total failure. An onboard LM 7805 5 volt positive regulator and small blocking diode would limit the possibility of accidental reverse connection. Secondly there is no documentation whatsoever supplied with the driver. A single page of specifications and instructions would cover this but the end user is left on his/her own to figure out the way it works. For the price this is a pretty nice little driver. My only suggestion in regards to improving the function would be a means to fine tune the stepper RPM between the absolute set points so that a specific speed could be dialed in. My ultimate use is to drive a barn door tracker for astrophotography, which requires a very precise RPM, and this will require gear, or pulley, selection to achieve the desired speed. This driver does hold the RPM over time within a very narrow range of variation.
