My dog uses it as a pool. In the past I bought the $10 cheapie toddler pools at the store, and my dog loved them, but eventually he would chew a bit out of it & I'd have to toss it. Sand boxes are much more sturdy. The Crabbie Sandbox was selected for 3 reasons: its wide rounded edges that I doubt my dog can get his mouth around; the overall sturdiness; and the Crabbie has the biggest space inside....more water (or sand) space for the money.

We purchased a different Step 2 sandbox a year ago. It was a little smaller but was excellent for durability. This one was 25% larger and cost twice as much, so not a real great deal. Except for the corners, it is just a thin single wall construction. My guess is 50% thinner than the the other styles. Also, the lid is very flimsy and easily caves in just sitting on the ground upside down. If you only want a sand box for occasional use that might last a year, get this one.

This is a very cute and sturdy sandbox. Our Grand Daughter is 1 1/2 years old and she loves the sandbox. Also the top works great to shield the sand and toys from any bad weather. We would definitely buy it again!

Our kids and grandkids had one just like it. They r now 41 and 15. Still great quality.and we all get out there and play in it. Roomy enough for all of us to play in.

Super cute and durable. The lid effectively keeps water and critters out of there. Big enough for a couple kids to comfortably play in there with plenty of room.
