I've used a lot tof universal remotes and I had the Harmony 650 for this system, I was looking for something that had more direct buttons instead of the Harmony's LCD screen and menus that you scroll through. This one works well, with lots of choices for manufacturers models of TVs, DVDs, CDs, Blurays, etc. The choices of buttons for my Sony AVReceiver was a little off (Guide does "on-screen", the cursor buttons aren't implemented) but the learning function overcame that. The learning function is a little tricky to get to work, but it functions well once you get the hang of it.

Works perfectly with my one year old Sony TV, but only works partially or not at all with my other components. For example, my one year old Panasonic Blu-Ray player works partially (menu buttons don't work); my late '90s Sony CD changer works partially (can't fast forward or switch between different discs); my one year old Yamaha amp doesn't work at all. The buttons are impossible to see in the dark. The "learning" feature only works if you have the device's original remote, so forget about using it if you're trying to replace a remote that was lost or stopped working.

BEST remote I've ever bought. I programmed my old tv/vcr/dvd player combo into it under the Cable setting and it works almost perfectly! The only problem at all is that if you don't use a code to program the volume controls and use the learn function instead, that you can't hold down the button to rapidly increase/decrease the volume and have to tap repeatedly instead. Oh, and sometimes I forget which buttons I programmed to do what. However, being able to control my tv/dvd, bluray player, tv/vcr/dvd combo, air conditioner, and 4 other devices is a small price to pay!

I am an audio/video enthusiast with plenty of experience with home theater equipment. I own equipment from Sony, Panasonic, Yamaha, Motorola, Hughes and Samsung which are operated by the remote. This an excellent product with good design and features for the low price. However, the technologically challenged may have some problems with it because of its complexity. You must read and follow the instructions in order to program and operate correctly this equipment. There is not a single thing I do not like about it. I give it two thumbs up!!!
Brilliant remote which we have used in our HT for about fifteen years. Highly tactile, balanced, logical and very robust. No device found yet that it can't control with the learning feature. Tip: We use Eneloop Pro (NiMH) cells for everyday use and swap them annually, BUT, use new 1.5V batteries for programming, or it won't record your codes from the source RCU.
