My parents have the 60 inch version of this television and love it. So I bought this one knowing there was a defect on it, hoping I could fix it in the future. Bad thing about the make of this tv is that there is a good change a green haze might envelope throughout the display and a huge distracting blob would appear during particular times while watching the tv. You can get around it if you don't mind the green haze but if you can fix it, it's well worth the money. The tv is great on HD and the black levels are amazing. It's great for HD gaming!!! But I hope Sony can help me with this problem
Both 50 and 60" model XBR1 TVs have a manufacturing defect with the optical block and light engine assys. After approx 1000 hours the TV develop the dreaded green screen problem. Even if the parts are replaced the problem will reoccur in a matter of short time. Sony has yet to solve the problem and a lawsuit for these TVs has been filed by a NY atty.
The SXRD from sony is absolutely one of the finest TV's out there. No "screen-door" effect provides a smooth picture. The LCOS technology provides twice as many pixels for a tight, sharp picture. Over 8 inputs allows you to hook almost anything you own to this TV. Great sound as well. I absolutely LOVE mine!!!!!!
Easily the best HDTV technology out there, with JVC being a close 2nd. LCOS (Liquid Crystal On Silicon) is cutting edge, with all of the advantages and none of the weaknesses of other technologies.
This was the best buy ever! I just love the TV.. And will by another just like it! Its got the best picture I've ever seen on a TV!
