When I bought this dvd player, I was a little concerned because it does not have progressive scan. Now that I've seen it, I think the picture quality is good over all. It is not the most advanced out there, but for a portable dvd player, I think it is just fine, better than I had expected. I love the compact size, but the screen is big enough that you don't have to squint from a few feet away to see it. I bought this for an upcoming trip. My son is 1 1/2 and we will be on a 3 hour flight and then a four or more hour car ride, so I will be needing something to entertain him. Supposedly the battery last for 4.5 hours. Have not tested this yet. Over all, I think it's a good dvd player and am satisfied with my purchase.
Sony DVP FX1 was the first portable dvd player that Sony invented and manufactured for the electronic market. It was built with special care, and very solid. It has good picture and good sound quality. It cost over $1000 eight yr. ago. Thanks to EBAY, I bought this unit mainly for parts, i.e. battery, ac charger, screen. etc. Buying new parts for this model would be very expensive and quite difficult to find. The only unfavorable thing is lacking of a really good inspection before making the purchase.
