Although this camera has been around for some while and was superceeded by the M2, it still remains an excellent point and shoot camera. Plus points are its very rugged build quality and, when folded, it is virtually bomb proof and ideal to carry in a pocket or bag. The screen is totally protected and lens is automatically covered by a metal shutter. No controls or buttons are exposed to damage. Picture quality is very good and sharp (good lighting and a mini tripod will give excellent definition when filling a 24" computer screen. I have found it excellent for 'all round versatility'. Movie mode is good and certainly on a par with other cameras of this type. Controls are easy to use and the menu is very logical. Negative points:- Not much except that the flash is weak and does not have much range, so low light party / clubbing shots are not its strong point. Also, a few earlier models had unreliable image processors (as did my first one). This was originally my daughter's camera which she gave me. It had probably already taken 'several million' photos during her 3 years in Australia and the far east so I could hardly blame it for throwing the towel in! However, I was so impressed with the camera during my time with it, that I later purchased a new one rather than get the old one repaired by Sony (which was around £114.00 I think). All in all, a very good camera - over priced when they were new but a great bargain now on the second hand market. (still a few new ones available out there from time to time)Read full review
