Many computers don't read memory cards anymore, especially older ones. This SONY MRW62E-S1 reader supports 17 different card types. I could not verify the claim of all 17 card types - because I don't have that many types of them, but whatever I had, they all worked fine. Connecting the device could not have been easier, using a USB cable. Every type of card slot gets a separate drive letter Reading from or writing to all types of cards are as complicated as using an external drive. With larger cards, it may be serve as an external - temporary, (because some cards are slow) - SSD (Solid State Drive)

Needed a really good card reader as my last one, which I thought was a better model, started corrupting files.

Bought this to read the Sony Aibo memory stick. Advised to only use a Sony original card reader, due to likely corruption of the data on the stick when using other card reader brands, I was delighted to see this reader advertised. Dating back to 2006, this reader also had the advantage of being sealed in its original packaging, unused, therefore unlikely to have suffered damaged. Although the product claims to support 16 other types of card, this will be preserved only for the one, as for the Aibo, sadly discontinued mid 2000's, accessories are becoming scarce. The plug and play aspects of my relatively recent Samsung laptop installed the reader as soon as the USB was connected, and within a few moments the card data was accessed. The Aibo's WLAN Manager found the card on the drive instantly, and the data was downloaded literally in a flash, which meant that the wireless settings stored on the card were quickly reconfigured in order for the Aibo to connect to the home network once again.Read full review
