The Sigma 70mm f2.8 DG EX macro is among the best 4 best macro lenses in the world: Canon 100mm f2.8L IS, Nikon 105mm f2.8 VR Micro and probably the sharpest one Sigma 150 f2.8 DG EX macro. Sigma 70mm f2.8 EX DG (special color corrected multi-coating and designed for any format APS or full-frame sensors) is absolutely sharp with great "bokeh" for macro shots and also portraits (sometimes too sharp for portraits). It fits very well in the APS cameras as a 100 or 112mm macro for that perfect distance in flowers & insects shots or as a super fast portrait lens. Fitted in a full-frame you'll get a great all purpose macro, landscape, portrait lens. I have had them all and I kept the 70mm and 150mm Sigmas. Since them I'm always ready for any kind of product, portrait and macro shooting. I'm a professional photographer based in NYC with 3 decades of experience.Read full review
This is a great lens that compliments my 70-200 f2.8. The f 2.8-4 fits almost any situation. Although it is a DX lens, which I use on a D7000, I also routinely use it on my D600 with no vignette seen on the image (to the native eye, not pixel peepers). Do be aware that as soon as you zoom out of 17mm, the 2.8 goes up to 3 and then after about 30mm to 3.2 and then at about 60mm it goes to f4, but, overall, is one stop that important? If it is, then pay 3-7x more for a 2.8 24-70...I doubt you will get your money's worth. Just shot a wedding, I used this lens for the wide angle that my 70-200 couldn't get and it rocked. The Macro works well, excellent clarity and proportion. The OS seems to work, it is just a feature that is there (I don't have a need to shoot under 1/100...time will tell.)Filter size is 72. Overall, for the price, this lens rocks either on a full frame or crop sensor.Read full review
The Sigma 17-70mm 2.8-4 HSM ASP DC lens is a fantastic kit replacement lens with a lower aperture for darker shoots. The photos are tack sharp through the whole range. The auto focus is fast and quite. I am very pleased with the value and images. This lens is a bit heavy, but due to the sharpness I do not mind the extra weight. I would recommend this lens for anyone who wants better low light and all around kit lems with a bit better quality.

Good lenses for the price. some aberrations but easely to correct in Lightroom. in general I found this lenses very versatile giving me the oportunity of travel light. if you have a 35 and a good zoom you'll have all you want for your SLR.
not always sharp, not too good at low light.
