I'm a pro guitar player, and a beginner dobro player. Playing guitar first really does help, however I'm a rookie at rating bars, but I'll give it a try. A friend recommended this bar because on one end was a rolled up curve which he liked. And in my mind's eye, it seemed like a good idea. But after using it, it's not the best for me for a crisp pull-off. Or maybe it is and I don't know how to use the rounded end properly. The other end is the same as the other bars, but flipping it in my hand is something I don't want to do. But I'm sure it's a great option if I really knew how it was supposed to be used. I also have big hands So I ordered the Shubb GS1 w/the wood top because it's taller overall and offers a place for my index finger to fall over comfortable and there's no rolled up end which makes pull-offs easier and crisper. And with all this, I met Mr. Shubb at NAMM and his products are have always been top drawer.Read full review

I'm learning to play lap steel. I have tried three slide bars including this Shubb SP2. The Shubb is my favorite over a round heavy bar and different rail style bar. It's slightly heavier and taller than the other rail style slide. The semi-bullet tip gives the Shubb a nice feel and I think it will be good for single note playing if I ever get good enough.

Great Steel slide. Stainless steel construction makes it a lifetime model. Fits in hand comfortably. Perfect weight.

High quality, solid, stainless steel that will not wear out for many years of use. The knock-off versions are usually plated or coated and will not provide long lasting perform performance.

For me the BEST tone bar out there. I have been a Stevens guy for 40 years. Still good, but someone recommended the SP2 and now I am hooked!
