Hard as traditional foam seats.
This seat is in no way soft as in gel. It's as hard as a traditional foam seat. The soft gel seats that serfas sold have a softer lycra and in addition felt like soft gel. This feels much more uncomfortable for riding. Avoid Serfas EGEL seats and go for the softer lycra based gel seats.

Great Replacement Seat
I bought this to replace the seat on my new bike. Have only rode it a few times but noticed the difference in comfort right away. I'm very happy with it so far. It's very comfortable and seems to be of good quality. For under $50, I highly recommend it.
