Bought this used copy to replace 2 discs of my Seaquest DSV Season 1 set, which I bought years ago from Best Buy, because discs 1 and 2 both had internal cracks in them underneath the surface and weaknesses. And, at least 3 of the episodes had seriously bad freezes in them, which were impossible to fix using my disc repair kit. I tried those 3 episodes in this set which I just received from EBAY today, and I am happy to say that they seem to work fine without any problems or issues.

I'm old enough that I remember when Seaquest first came out to national television. How Excited I was !! FINALLY. someone was going to portray science as a viable tool for the future. I don't deny that it would be fun to zip around the galaxy in spaceships, or live on a futursistic space station, but seaquest offered a glimpse into what could have been a very do-able future for mankind. The cast was First Rate with many big names contributing tot he success of the program. Names like Roy Scheider, Steven Speilberg, Dr. Robert Ballard, and more. I thrilled every week when I could once again close my eyes and dream of exploring the vast ocean depths. InnerSpace as opposed to OuterSpace. Anyone who has ever dreamed of a bright future for mankind ought to watch this series. It takes a very realistic possibility and expands that into to cutting edge hope for the future. I wholeheartedly reccomend this program to anyone with that drive to know more, to seek the unknown, to "Boldy Go", as it were....Read full review
This TV show is one that I can watch with my kids (there is the occasional profanity, but mild in comparison to network TV lately). It is exciting to watch, has characters who seem to be like real people, and situations that hold the attention. As a fan of Sci-Fi and Fantasy books and movies, I am always pleased to see characters like Nathan Bridger, who have real problems, trials that the rest of us can relate to, (the loss of his wife and son, the struggle for funding for his ship, etc) and who rise above the troubles to excel in life and profession. He is not a one-dimentional cookie cutter cut-out. (NOTE: The show is heavy in the evolutionary neo Darwinist science, so if that is a problem for you, do watch out. For us, it is a great discussion starter for my homeschooled kids.) The stories are fun to watch, and hold together fairly well, as long as you like "in the future" techo stuff, that may or may not seem realistic. This is the earliest mention of the "Internex" that I have found, which was a barely-born infant when this show was filmed (about 1993)Read full review
I decide to buy the DVD set because I had seen the series growing up as a young child. Around 12 years olds. At that time I'd loved the ocean and the series had intreged me. Later in life around my high school years I took a nack to engineering. I studyed Architechure and Marine Engining in high school. Unforunately those majors were unavailable at the school where I studied in New Jersey. Instead I decided to study Civil Engineering. Looking back on the first season of the series, it seems that what was in the show could possibily be in the near future. I disliked the second season and the 2032 series becouse they were more Sci-Fi. The first series seemed more Sci-Fact. Having studied the enviroment and knowing the effects of global warming, I feel that one day the earth will very well be like it was depicted in the first season of SeaQuest DSV. One day the oceans will be colonized for developement and there will be a need to keep the peace and further explore the ocean. A actually SeaQuest simularity will eventually be developed. Years ago the show Voyage to the bottem of the ocean? was a sci-fi and now many Navy Vessals are simular to the one depicted in that series.Read full review
I loved this show when it aired and it's nice to be able to see it again. The show is fun and has a bit of real science content. It's a nice adventure show that you can watch with kids and enjoy. The trained dolphin is very life like and the mini science lessons at the end are great for kids. All in all an excellent show.
