Wanted a larger hard drive, and this one at 4TB seems just about right. It's built like a tank (quite a bit heavier than I expected. Slipped into my computer's drive cage like a glove; plug in the SATA data and power, and it's good to go! On the specific drive I received, I had to delete the System Reserved partition (someone must have used this as a boot drive) before Windows 7 was completely happy with it, but that did the trick and now it works like a charm. I've put 1.5TB on it, and there's still tons of space left! Don't be bothered by the 5900rpm; I can't tell that this drive is any different than my other 7200rpm drive.

Typically I don't buy Seagate drives, they just are just don't have the long term reliability I require. These drives are fairly quiet, which is something I was looking for for this project. The main reason they are quiet is that they are 5900 RPM vs the more common (and faster) 7200 RPM. These are older drivers that are no longer being made. I would not use them for a system drive in a computer because of their speed.

Works as now, am using this for storing files not OS. Its quiet. Came package really well with a 3 year warranty.

Quiet and low-heated, just what I expected. Also, suprisingly for a low-rpm drive, fair speed: from 179mb/s at the beginning of the drive to 73mb/s at the end. This is actually the same speed as my older 7200prm drive. This is not a new model, which is good from my opinion: no SMR

I would give it five stars, but I haven’t had it for very long. The drive is surprisingly fast. Very pleased so for
