The Fray is a Denver based 4 person band that emulates several aspects of arena rock with British rock and parts of Emo music. They have so far only released 2 cds, but they’ve both made a huge impact on Progressive Rock Radio. Several people compare them to Coldplay. The single: “Over My Head’ is still getting airplay a year after it’s release. Professional rock critics will probably dismiss this cd as ‘another average’ band, but the ‘average’ rock listener will enjoy it. The more you play, the more you appreciate the simplicity, yet subtleties in it. My humble opinion is that is one of the top albums of the year 2005, but don’t just take my word for it: pick it up when you can get a good price on it. One of the highlights on the cd is the awesome track: “How to Save a Life” which was featured in the television show: Grey’s Anatomy. While the band is still trying to find a way to gain national recognition, their fan base already has shown loyalty that is unparalleled for a band in 2005. I wish them the best, and anxiously await their next release. Thank you and please click the button below if you think this CD Guide was helpful! Jeff Feezle of MacafeezRead full review
The Fray,I think, have done what seemed to be impossible in the mainstream - Make Soulful and Creative songs and give them a Chillout feel. Perfect for those rainy days your just sitting at home relaxing. I origonaly bought the album off I-Tunes and so immediatly after I put some songs on my I-Pod & loved it. I think the only problems with this album is that most of the songs seem to sound the same after listning to all of them and there are a couple of songs that are lacking in the bunch. I personaily would take the chance if your into their type of music but if not dont,it probbly wont be your style. But I personally enjoyed it. 1-10 = 7.5 Thanks For Listening, Electric Scene
This is one of the best album's made in the early 2000's. It's by far The Fray's best album. I've owned this CD a few times over the year's and it never get's old to me. It will always be one of my all time favorite's.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
I first became aware of The Fray due to "How to Save a Life" was played during Grey's Anatomy. Then saw them on Directv Channel 101 in concert at Red Rocks outside Denver, their old stomping grounds. The Fray's top musician makes sweet love to his piano and microphone. Their music is an emotional rollercoaster ride of melancholy, anxiety-filled feelings of love, yearning, and past relationship mistakes re-runs. A very respectable first album from The Fray. Look forward to their sophomore offering.
I decided to purchase this CD because I had heard the song "How to save a life" on the radio quite a bit. That song may well be the best song on the CD, but others are worthy of mention as well. "Over My Head Cable Car" is also great, very catchy. I purchased this CD and really found myself listening to the CD all of the time. I have even been recommending this CD to other people who think that they might like it. The CD sounds different than I thought it would. Still very good Overall, A good Album.
