I have had experience with several (huge) pro clor laser printers, and this gives them a run for the money. It is amazingly small compared to its portable refrigerator counterparts, almost as fast to process a file and as fast to print it, and the quality-with the right paper blows away any inkjet I've used (when they managed to work), and I've owned many. Use the right paper-no inkjet photo paper, regular inkjet is OK, laser paper is better quality usually and will not contaminate the printer as will inkjet paper. Photos look professional-only the sharpest eyes will notice a slight difference in resolution detail from the best color printers. For text and graphics, outstanding, at least with mine. i noticed these are not so easy to find now (bought mine last year). There is a reason. Yes, toner cartridges seem to cost a lot more-but I've spent more than a good set of toner cartridges on inkjets, and I still had dried-out or dirty printheads ruining my work and wasting time. The CLP hasn't failed me yet, perfect prints every time. I will gladly buy another set if it is this reliable. Pot luck on getting it to work as a wireless network printer-not for a newbie. I was successful but you need to know about networking, IP addresses, etc. Directions are not good and won't work unless you understand these principles, thoroughly! Research the web and you find alot of users have trouble with this, which is why I only give it 4 stars. USB will work however akthoug I've only done this with Windows XP Pro OS.Read full review
I read a lot of reviews about this item before I bought it. I also debated between getting this unit and one of the HP airprint enabled printers (of which there are only a handful). In the end I decided to get both. I think that you need to have a proper expectation and understanding of what you're buying before you buy it. If you are going to be printing photos or high resolution color images, you shouldn't be looking at laser. It will only disappoint you and it's not designed for that. If you are the CEO of a company like I am and you do some decent volume, but don't want to be limited to only black and white with a typical laser printer, then this is for you. It gives me quality images for presentations and general use with a low cost per page and less maintenance than an ink jet. This unit is relatively quiet, easy to maintain, looks sleek in my high tech office and performs the job I bought it for. The only downside is the power consumption. When it prints it uses a little more "juice" than I expected. I still need high quality photo images and for use with my iPhone and iPad I will still get an HP printer that is compatible. That is a different job though and deserves a different tool. In this age of "all in one" devices, I think we forget that having a refrigerator that dispenses our coffee in the morning and reads us the morning paper while getting ready for work, while blending a smoothie for lunch, may be a little unrealistic and inappropriate.Read full review
My intial purchase of a new 315w printer, and the fact that it was so easy to set up and use from wherever in my three story home, prompted this second buy as a gift to someone else. Unfortunately, it was a used unit, and the previous owner did not pay attention to packaging details, and the printer is inoperable, The ink toners are still usable and more than half full(a new set can cost $168.00), it is difficult to get service on the unit (no centers in the New Jersey area!). So buy new or at least refurbished, shop around for toners (Buy.com best at present)and do enjoy glorious color.
I bought this printer because I got an amazing deal for a refurbished wireless color laser printer. It's print quality for text is great, as with most any laser printer. However, graphics quality is average. Nothing to brag about. But I'm not complaining since I expected this. The biggest con of this printer is for Macintosh users. It took me two days to properly configure this printer to work wirelessly with my Mac. Wireless setup for Windows is a breeze, but Mac setup is a pain in the ass! I was ready to send this printer back, but after hacking the printer's settings and manually configuring various settings through trial an error, I'm satisfied that I got a decent wireless color laser printer at a low cost.
We got this unit as a Christmas present for ourselves. Installed the software and away it went working as advertised. One must make sure you have a unique address for each computer by changing the last number to one different than the others. The pictures are clear, much better than ink jet. I use a coated paper for laser printers, not the ink jet photo paper as it will not work. The unit works well on lighter multi color pictures but not well on dark photos. It is nice to be free of the printer cable as we have 3 laptop computers that we always had to pass the cable around to print. Now it does not matter as long as we are in the same room with the printer. Easy to setup with the software provided, good wireless in the same room, nice print and photos.
